Tony W. Robyn
Assistant Director of Planning, Development and Neighborhood Services, City of Joplin, Missouri
Tony holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Webster University – Kansas City and an associate’s degree in Natural Science from Minnesota West and has over 20 years of professional experience in full life cycle project planning and coordination, operational management, and raising and administering public and private funds for municipalities, non-profit organizations, and collaborative public/private partnerships.
Tony has also worked for both municipal and a number of non-profit organizations in senior management roles. As environmental education division director for the city of Kansas City, Missouri, he oversaw zoological operations and multiple nature center operations for Parks and Recreation. As an executive director and regional vice-president for the National Audubon Society, Tony oversaw operations and planning for 13 state office operations and multiple environmental education facilities and programs.
After the 2011 disaster, Tony worked as an U.S. Department of Commerce, Economic Development Administration disaster recovery coordinator for the city of Joplin, providing research, grant writing, planning and coordination support for recovery projects including various public facilities, parks, and land acquisition. In his current role as assistant director of Planning, Development and Neighborhood Services, Tony works closely with citizens, private partners, and local, state, and federal agencies in coordinating and providing logistical support for city infrastructure reconstruction and disaster recovery projects.
A native of southwest Minnesota, Tony lives in Joplin with his wife and daughter. He enjoys exploring the outdoors and traveling with family and friends
